The Bangor Daily News is meeting the challenge presented by coronavirus and COVID-19 by adapting all newsroom assignments and deploying reporters and editors to connect you with important public health updates throughout each day, listen to your questions, work to find answers, and provide context for policy decisions. Beyond news, we’re helping Mainers navigate our new shared/distant life, whether it's about schooling at home, DIY projects, planting your first garden, or enjoying the outdoors.
In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, much of this reporting is free for all online. But it is not free to create. At the same time as the newsroom has scaled up to meet this need, many local businesses have paused operations and national advertisers are opting not to place their advertisements alongside coronavirus-related stories. We understand the stresses businesses are under and are ready to help them when customers return. Meanwhile, the dramatic drop in advertising endangers our ability to fulfill our mission.
